The inspirations for my glass creations often come from my personal
experiences of the lessons of life. My work is about the adventures as well as the tough
times that teach of the humanity that connects us all. I have become aware and hope to
express through my glasswork that life’s trials almost always offer a “silver
lining”. With this realization, my “Life’s Silver Linings” bead style
was birthed. It is so named because the glass core of each bead is actually wrapped in a
thin sheet of silver leaf or foil. Then layers of transparent color glass are melted over
the silver. Several times throughout the layering, the bead is subjected to a reduction
flame atmosphere to cause a chemical reaction, producing interesting color variations;
then it is re-oxidized and shaped. Finally, silver wire is fused onto the surface of the
bead to create the spot-like design elements. After the bead is annealed, it becomes the
gem in the design of an inspiring piece of jewelry. When you wear this jewelry,
